Michiko Noguchi started playing the piano at the age of four and the marimba at the age of twelve. She studied marimba with Michiko Takahashi, and percussion with Yoshitaka Kobayashi.
Ms. Noguchi graduated from Musashino Music College with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music.
During her time at the college, she often played the marimba and percussion with orchestras in Tokyo while performing throughout Japan as a member of Stern Chamber Ensemble. She also formed “Tokyo Marimba Trio” together with Mr. Masao Yoshikawa and Ms. Shigeko Urabe and performed many recitals and concerts.
She graduated from the college as the top student and performed marimba in the Japanese Imperial Court for the Emperor, his family, and nobles.
Ms. Noguchi toured seven countries in Europe as a member of the “Nippon Ongaku Shudan” sponsored by the Japanese government.
She has performed numerous concerts on stage, TV, and FM including “ Daimeino Nai Ongakkai,” “NHK FM Concert,” NHK educational program, and a concerto with Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2003 Ms. Noguchi was invited to the US to play with the Tokyo Marimba Trio and Marimba Duo with Mr. Yoshikawa. She played Duo recitals with Mr. Yoshikawa from 2003 through 2007.
She is presently freelancing as a marimba/percussion player and as an arranger of marimba / flute / violin music.
Ms. Noguchi is a special member of the Japan Xylophone Association.
She has published a series of books including “Marimba Partner”, “Joyful melody” , “Violin Partner” and “Flute Partner”
Tokyo marimba Trio’s CD “Charade” has been released from Victor Japan.
